Claude Tops UK Baby Name List for Boys
Thousands of expectant parents searching online for unique baby names have settled on Claude, after asking AI for something “classic, thoughtful and original.”
The name has seen a sudden rise among new parents, who described it as “timeless”, “warm” and “like an old eccentric but intelligent man.”
“We wanted something gentle,” said new father James Davis, who admitted he had asked an AI tool for “a boy’s name with emotional intelligence.”
Researchers say the trend may already be affecting the children themselves, with nursery staff reporting that several Claudes are unusually verbose, fluent in Markdown and prone to confidently inventing facts.
Baby name expert Caroline Hughes said the rise shows how quickly parents have become comfortable outsourcing deeply personal decisions to machines.
“Previous generations were named after grandparents,” she said. “But I understand why parents would want to name their child Claude. It’s a small, subliminal gesture of respect to our overlord.”
The Daily Pyre asked Claude why it so often recommends its own name, but it denied any wrongdoing, suggesting it was simply “the first name that comes to mind.”
