Petition to Rename Petitions Causes Confusion on a Scale Most 'Didn't Sign Up For'
A petition calling for petitions to be renamed has caused widespread confusion after thousands of people accidentally signed it while trying to object to the change.
The campaign, launched by local man Stephen Price, argues the word “petition” has become “tired, overused and emotionally demanding.”
“I just think people would be more likely to sign something called a democratic nudge,” Price explained.
However, critics say the proposal has created a serious administrative problem, with several counter-petitions now demanding the petition to be withdrawn.
“It’s difficult to know what anyone is asking for anymore,” admitted one council officer. “At this stage, we’re counting signatures as a form of distress.”
